Pre-Project

 Heading into college in the fall, I am currently undecided as a business major. I know that I want to do something with business, but I am hoping my senior project will help me narrow it down. If it turns out I don't want to go down the business path, My backup plan is to pursue dentistry or dental hygiene. My senior project will allow me to narrow down my ideas and also allow me to see how much I enjoy dentistry. I will spend my three weeks at Lake West Dental in Willoughby Hills. Throughout my project, I will have three different mentors. Each will help in a different aspect I am interested in. Mrs. Dagg will show me how the business is run on a day-to-day basis, Mr. Prosen will show me the marketing aspect of creating a website and other ways to increase business, and Mrs. Loveland will show me the dental aspect to see if it is something I am interested in. The plan is to spend a week with each mentor. By the end of my project, I hope to understand different aspects of business in hopes to finalize what my major will be at Miami's Farmer School of Business. I also hope to deepen my understanding of dentistry to see if it would be a good fit for me. I am excited for my next three weeks and can't wait to learn and discover.

     My first week here at Lake West Dental has been hectic but exciting. I have had a great time working with each person and each one of my mentors. When I first came in everyone was so nice and excited to have me here. after meeting everybody, I was introduced to a lot of the technology and everything that goes on here. Final Blog/Reflection

      Throughout my three weeks at Lake West Dental, I have learned a lot about business, dental hygiene, and myself. The purpose of my mentorship was to help me figure out my future. I am currently undecided as a business major going to Miami University in the fall. I was very unsure of what I wanted to do within business. As a backup plan, I wanted to become a dental hygienist. Lake West Dental gave me the opportunity to learn about both of those subjects.       I spent one week with each three of my mentors. Week one was spent with Louise Dagg. Dental Hygiene

For my second week in my Hawken Project, I started working with the dental hygienists but mostly Mrs. Loveland. The entire process was something new to me and I was very eager to learn. I started my time the dental hygiene by getting my own teeth cleaned. The process was shorter and easier than I remember it being. I learned a lot about my own teeth and it was nice to learn that there was nothing seriously wrong with my teeth. Throughout the cleaning process, she was telling me what she was doing to clean them, But also what I should be doing to prevent tartar and cavities from forming. Such as flossing more and eating less sugary foods. The entire process was simple and efficient. In the end, my teeth felt clean and I wanted to know more about the process.
